FT Lecturer, Stanford University

The Stanford Physics Department invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin in Summer or Autumn quarter 2026. This position is a full-time, twelve-month, benefits-eligible, teaching position. The initial appointment is for a term of 2 years with possible reappointment after that. A Ph.D. or equivalent is required. 


The primary role of the Lecturer is to teach introductory physics courses, possibly in partnership with another instructor. Duties will include working closely with members of the department and the Center for Teaching and Learning in optimizing the pedagogy, curriculum, and sequencing of the introductory physics courses and laboratories. The Lecturer should be knowledgeable in curriculum and course design, including effective pedagogy and equitable assessment, as well as in evaluating the success of new offerings, and able to work collaboratively with faculty in any course restructuring.  In addition to instruction, the Lecturer will be responsible for helping to manage the introductory physics courses, including mentoring and managing the introductory physics teaching assistants, supporting faculty new to teaching these courses, helping with other aspects of the physics education program, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate. The Lecturer will contribute to continuous improvement of these courses and monitoring the outcomes.

The Honors College and Department of Physics and Astronomy invite applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position with a start date of August 2026. This is a 9-month, renewable appointment.

The Bowling Green State University Honors College supports BGSU’s mission by fostering a community of scholars. The Department of Physics and Astronomy currently has twelve faculty, including teaching and research faculty, with a 2-1 balance between physicists and astronomers. We offer BS and MS programs in Physics, and minor programs in Physics and in Astronomy. We teach introductory courses in Physics taken by students in a variety of majors across campus. Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach critical thinking courses required for first-year Honors College students (primarily HNRS 2500: Critical Thinking about STEM) and survey College Physics courses for non-majors (PHYS 2010 & 2020), including lecture and recitation sections, and perhaps lab sections; the option exists to develop laboratory activities and to mentor teaching assistants who instruct weekly labs; and to provide service at the department, college, and university levels. The typical teaching load will be 12 credit hours (four courses) per semester of in-person instruction.

Minimum Qualifications

- Masters degree in Physics or a closely related discipline (e.g. Astronomy, Engineering, etc.).
- Experience as an instructor of record or teaching assistant.
- Commitment to active learning pedagogies.

Preferred Qualifications

- Doctoral degree in Physics, or a closely related discipline (e.g. Astronomy, Engineering, etc.). ABD will be considered ifthe requirements for the degree are completed by August 2026.
- Established background of teaching at the college level as an instructor of record.
- Demonstrated experience implementing active learning pedagogies.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time lecturer for introductory physics instruction beginning August 1, 2026.  This is a non-tenure track faculty position. The Department, which currently has 20 faculty members, has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.  Candidates should show a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and demonstrate potential to enhance teaching pedagogy.  The person hired will teach five-six courses per academic year, primarily in the Department’s general physics programs, and will lead the development of a new introductory physics in the life sciences sequence.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with teaching and learning initiatives on campus including the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to Advance Teaching & Learning Cluster, the Scientists Engaged in Education Research Center, and the Artificial Intelligence for STEM Education Center.
