Details: Postdoctoral research position—mathematics education evaluation & research
Ethnography & Evaluation Research (E&ER) at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a position as postdoctoral researcher in mathematics education assessment and evaluation. The researcher will contribute to the design, implementation, and dissemination of results for a multi-year evaluation for a national reform initiative in undergraduate mathematics education by five prominent universities. The researcher may also join other ongoing or new projects in evaluation and research of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and career development.
Desired qualifications: BA/BS or advanced degree in mathematics, math education, or a closely related field, with graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in math, math education/assessment, or STEM education research. ‘ABD’ doctoral candidates within one year of degree completion or others with 3-5 years research experience in math education may be considered.
Desired skills: Design and analysis of survey and assessment instruments, statistical analysis, web programming, quantitative and qualitative software, use of scholarly literature, strong oral and written communication, independent and collaborative work. Math teaching experience, familiarity with the research base in math education and assessment, and/or other skills that complement E&ER's existing strengths in qualitative research and science education, will be a plus.
The position is expected to be funded starting September 1, 2007, in Boulder, CO, as a one-year, renewable position, pending final notification of grant funding. The position will be in the research faculty track at the University of Colorado at Boulder, as a research associate for a Ph.D.-qualified candidate (otherwise as a professional research assistant). E&ER is a nationally known research and evaluation unit that specializes in studies of science, math, and engineering education. The University of Colorado is an equal opportunity employer.
