Non-tenure-track at University of Houston

The Department of Physics at the University of Houston seeks
applicants for several Instructional Faculty positions to be available
to start at the beginning of the fall semester of 2008. We are
particularly interested in at lease one candidate with a background in
Astronomy and Astrophysics. Instructional Faculty members at the
University of Houston are not considered tenure-track faculty, but are
eligible for multi-year contracts after an initial probationary period.
Instructional Faculty ranks mirror the normal tenure-track ranks and the
teaching salary is offered on a 9-month basis. Summer teaching may be
available but is not required. Instructional Faculty are eligible to
draw a summer salary from other sources such as research funds should
they be available. Instructional Faculty members are also allowed to
submit funding proposals to external agencies under their own name. The
successful applicant will be expected to teach up to three courses per
semester as well as to pursue research interests, especially in the area
of physics pedagogy. Applications should include a Curriculum Vita, a
statement of teaching and research interests, a list of publications,
and the names of up to 5 persons who could act as references.
