Postdoc at Johns Hopkins

The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position inthe Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Educational Resources (CER), the University’s faculty instructional support center.The successful applicant will work with faculty and staff in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, with staff in the CER, and with engineering and bioscience faculty to enhance theJHU General Physics Laboratory courses with a new curriculum and new TA training program.

The individual who fills this position will use knowledge of physics and of physics education research (PER) to address the needs of engineering-oriented and bioscience-oriented studentstaking General Physics.Development and testing of new classroom and TA training methodologies constitute asignificant proportion of this assignment. The applicant should have a Ph.D. in university level physics and a background in physics education research and educational assessment. The successful candidate is encouraged to take a scientific approach to this initiative, including assessment of educational objectives and student outcomes before, during, and after the project’simplementation. Peer-reviewed publication of project results is encouraged.
