Visiting Physicist at AAPT

The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) is seeking Visiting Physicist who will work with association members, officers, committees, and staff, as well as with leaders of other physics and science societies, to advance the teaching of physics and further an appreciation for the role of physics in our culture. The Visiting Physicist will advise the Executive Officer on academic issues, and develop and lead special projects, will collaborate with EO to lead and oversee the development and implementation of new competitive grant proposals to private foundations and to the federal government.

AAPT’s worldwide membership is dedicated to advancing physics education at all levels, from pre-school through graduate level physics. AAPT is at an important juncture in its development. The Visiting Physicist will have particular responsibility for developing programs and events of value to physics educators at one or more levels from middle school physical science through graduate level physics education.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in physics or a related field, active research work, and substantial experience as a physics teacher are strongly desirable. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be willing to travel.
