VAP at West Virginia Univ.

The Department of Physics at West Virginia University invites applications to fill one or more non-tenure-track positions at the visiting assistant professor level. The successful candidate will likely teach several sections of introductory physics and/or descriptive astronomy each semester. Opportunities to teach upper division undergraduate physics courses may also be available. The appointment will begin August 16, 2010 and continue through May 15, 2011, with additional summer teaching support possible.

Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in physics and a demonstrated ability to teach at the introductory physics level. Experience with curriculum development is desirable. The department has 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty. Active areas of research include condensed matter/solid state physics, plasma physics, applied physics, astrophysics, statistical physics, elementary particle physics, and nonlinear dynamics.
