DUTIES

Duties will include instructing a selection of lecture and laboratory courses in physics at all undergraduate levels, developing curricula and new courses, assessing student performance, and providing feedback to students including marking and grading assignments, quizzes, and examinations. Participation in committee work and involvement in the intellectual and cultural life of the university and the community will also be expected

The Department of Physical Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science, physics major program and provides physics service courses for engineering, respiratory therapy, and architectural technology. There are plans for revisions to the program and expanded course offerings.

Hiring for this position will be subject to final budgetary approval.


QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline from a recognized university with a background in experimental physics. A strong commitment to and demonstrated talent for teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate level is essential.  A minimum of two years’ experience as a physics instructor at the post-secondary level is required but candidates with less experience may be considered.  The ideal candidate would be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses from introductory to advanced, including, but not limited to, analog and digital electronics, electricity and magnetism, and optics. Expertise in any of the following areas would be considered an asset: engineering physics, geophysics, or quantum computing.  Familiarity with electronic test equipment, analog and digital circuit design, and microcontroller or FPGA programming would be valuable.
