Lecturer of Physics at Texas State
University – Astronomy
The
Texas State University Department of Physics seeks a full-time Lecturer
beginning Fall Semester 2021. Primary
duties are instruction of introductory astronomy and physics courses. The position is for the full academic year
with potential continuation.
Our
department offers baccalaureate and master’s degrees and currently specializes
in the physics of materials, astrophysics and physics education. In addition to ongoing departmental
instructional needs, we seek to expand undergraduate research opportunities and
coursework in astronomy. Texas State is
a comprehensive PhysTEC site with a thriving Learning Assistant program
operating in the introductory calculus-based physics sequence. The Department of Physics is proud to serve a

Minimum
qualifications:
Master’s degree in Physics, Astronomy/Astrophysics,
Science Education, or a related field, with at least 18 semester credit hours
in graduate-level physics or astronomy.
Preferred
qualifications:

PhD in Physics,
Astronomy/Astrophysics, Science Education, or related field.

Previous
experience teaching introductory astronomy at the college level.
Applicants
will be also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of
undergraduate research and advanced coursework in astronomy, and engage in
advisement of student-led organizations and outreach activities.

The
maximum 9-month salary for this position is about $49,900/year, with
opportunities for summer teaching or grant work, depending on the applicant’s interests
and initiatives.
