Full Time Lecturer, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY



The School of Science (SoS) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy, starting January 2018. This renewable position will initially be a 3-year appointment.
Primary responsibilities will be introductory undergraduate Physics education for engineering and science students. There is an emphasis on development of new pedagogical methods. There will also be opportunities to teach senior level physics courses or to contribute to Physics educational development projects, depending on the candidate’s strengths and interests.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D., or foreign degree equivalent, in Physics or a closely-related discipline. The successful candidate is expected to have strong teaching, advising, and mentoring skills. The ideal candidate will be an individual with a comprehensive vision of physics education, as well as the skills needed to integrate hands-on laboratory skills at the introductory physics levels.
