VAP at American University
The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a one-year term teaching position at the rank Professorial Lecturer, position beginning fall 2012. Qualified candidates will have a doctorate in physics or closely related field. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses for majors at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, and also courses in the General Education program, such as Astronomy. The successful candidate will be prepared to advise and teach students and mentor undergraduate research. Applicants must submit (electronic copies in PDF strongly encouraged): (1) letter of application addressing teaching and research experiences and interests, (2) CV, and (3) a teaching statement that describes the different strategies required for introductory and upper-level courses. Additionally, they must arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the Search Committee. Email: physicssearch@american.edu.
