GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Faculty, Physical Sciences, position is a full-time, 10 month Faculty position. Teaching assignments will include but are not limited to General Chemistry, Chemistry for Health Sciences and Organic Chemistry and Physics courses. Hours will vary according to class schedules. Faculty maintains a 35 hour week. This position reports to the Dean, Sciences and Nursing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Prepares, instructs and grades all class coursework.
- Promotes positive student learning outcomes through effective teaching.
- Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to provide assistance to students in physical sciences.
- Assists with course and program development, recruiting students and implementing program objectives.
- Assists in implementing College policies, and achieving College goals according to College philosophy and procedures.
- Participates in Institutional Planning and Budget process.
- Participates in staff and committee work.
- Assists in all College recruitment & retention efforts as appropriate.
- Attends Graduation/Commencement ceremonies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to deliver high quality instruction in a range of chemistry and physics courses.
- Ability to commit to continued effort to stay current in program area.
- Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures and services.
- Strong student orientation and ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Proficient in use of technology.
- Ability to manage programs and resources effectively.
- Ability to plan, budget, and evaluate activities.
- Ability to relate successfully to faculty, staff, students and the community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A Master's degree in chemistry with 18 graduate semester hours of physics or Master's degree in physics with 18 graduate semester hours of chemistry. Doctorate preferred.
- Three (3) years teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
- Three (3) years work experience in field is preferred.
