Non-TT Lecturer at Rochester Institute of Technology

An interdisciplinary group of scientists and educators at the
University of Maryland is seeking a Postdoctoral Research
Associate to assist with an HHMI-supported project to create a
novel prototype physics course for biology majors and
pre-medical students. The course will be an introductory course
in physics, but will assume that students have had experience in
biology, chemistry, and calculus. While focusing on fundamental
physics principles and concepts, the physics will be developed
in biological contexts, both micro and macro and will develop
biologically authentic examples. The project involves
considerable negotiation among physicists, biologists, chemists,
mathematicians, and education specialists. The candidate will
be responsible for working across these disciplinary boundaries
and will be expected to help with materials development. The
candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in
developing and carrying out assessments including classroom
observations, interviews, and instrument creation. The ideal
candidate will have had experience in education research, a
strong background in physics, and some knowledge of biology and
chemistry.

The appointment is for one year with possible renewal for a
