Position Summary:
The faculty member will teach General Physics, Physics (calculus-based),and Statics and Dynamics courses. The faculty member will possess skills needed to teach on-ground, online and hybrid formats. The teaching assignments involve teaching associated labs, ordering equipment, assembly and maintenance of equipment. The faculty member will work with current faculty members to maintenance our observatory.
The filling of this position is contingent upon approval of the FY 2011-2012 operating budget by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
A) Teach courses and associated laboratory sections.
B) Recommend curriculum changes and modifications.
C) Complete goals and objectives for the individual and department.
D) Complete educational outcome measurements and academic reporting as required.
E) Attend and participate in college committee assignments.
F) Attend conferences and workshops as deemed desirable or required.

Required Qualifications:
A) Minimum of a Master's degree (earned doctorate preferred) with eighteen or more graduate semester hours in physics from a regionally accredited institution.
B) Minimum of three years experience in teaching Physics lecture and lab classes.
C) Background in utilizing multimedia programs and distance learning preferred.
D) Experience developing and/or facilitating instruction in a distance education learning environment.
E) Experience with online/hybrid instruction techniques.
F) Understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
-Knowledge of laboratory equipment.
-Recommending equipment and assembly of purchased equipment as needed.
-In case of equipment requiring professional repair the candidate will secure vendors and specify the work to be done.
-Coordination of the college's observatory use by the public and classes.

Work Hours:
30 hours of class and office time per week.
