ISTEM Director at College of Southern Maryland

12-month faculty appointment as Director, ISTEM Program.

Job Description:
The ISTEM Director is a full-time faculty member appointed to administer
the operations of the CSM Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics. This is a twelve-month position that includes
instructional as well as administrative duties in managing operations of
the ISTEM, participate in college-wide planning, including Curriculum
and Instruction Committee and other such committees, coordinating
outcomes assessment efforts related to the ISTEM, and supporting the
activities of the ISTEM Advisory Council. The ISTEM Director will also
develop annual course schedules and programs for the Robotics program
and the Center for Effective Teaching of STEM, including the annual
Conference on the Effective Teaching of STEM. The ISTEM Director’s
activities will involve significant collaboration, with input from STEM
Division Chairs and develop and participate in partnerships appropriate
to the needs of the ISTEM and the college (public school and
vocational/technical school articulations, 2 and 4 year colleges, local
employers). This position is partially funded through grants, and future
funding depends on grant availability. The ISTEM Director will ensure
the sustainability of STEM efforts by developing and submitting grant
proposals.

The ISTEM Director is also responsible for teaching a reduced load of 9
credits per year. Primary areas of teaching responsibility include: Any
science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline, excluding
the health sciences.

Placement in rank is commensurate with background and experience.

Required Skills

* Masters in any Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
discipline; PhD Preferred
* Three years full-time teaching experience or five years teaching as
adjunct faculty member, preferably at the college level.
