Instructor at Dalhousie Univ.

The Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 12-month Instructor position commencing July 1, 2009.

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to organize and coordinate the laboratory sections associated with two half-credit Physics courses and to prepare demonstrations for use in physics lectures. The successful candidate will work hand in hand with the instructor for the alternate first year lab.

Duties include designing and preparing laboratory experiments primarily for Physics 1100 labs - this may include writing instruction manuals, supervising the lab demonstrators and markers, collating lab marks and arranging in-term tests, help sessions and make-up labs; assisting faculty with preparation and set up of class demonstrations.

Additional responsibilities include assisting the electronics technician with the supervision of the Physics computer lab, lab operation, software and hardware and coordinating purchases of undergraduate lab equipment for both labs and lecture demonstrations. Other duties as required.
