The University of Evansville’s Physics Department invites applications for a one-year appointment, at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August 2011. The successful candidate may be considered for an anticipated tenure-track appointment, expected to open in Fall, 2012.
The normal teaching load is 20-21 semester hours per year, and he/she will be expected to hold 10 office hours per week and to participate in departmental and university service activities. The teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced undergraduate physics courses and labs. The ability to teach introductory astronomy would be a plus. Ph.D. in physics preferred; A.B.D. considered. Teaching experience at the college level preferred. The Physics Department graduates 2 – 3 majors per year, with 90% going on for advanced degrees, mostly in physics. For more information about the program, visit http://physics.evansville.edu.
