Joint TT in Science Ed and a Science department @ Stony Brook (NY)

Professor of Science Education

Stony Brook University's Center for Science and Mathematics Education (http://www.stonybrook.edu/cesame) seeks to hire an open-rank tenure-track faculty member with a joint appointment in a science department. Anticipated start date: January or September 2013. Stony Brook University, home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore. Our 1,100-acre campus is home to 24,000 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and more than 13,500 faculty and staff. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and co-manager of nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).
Qualifications: Candidate must have doctorate in science education with a strong background in an area of science, or doctorate in a science or engineering discipline with a strong background in education. Emerging/established record of scholarly research. Applicants for the position at a senior level should have an established record of external funding.
Duties and Responsibilities: Teach courses in the Ph.D. and M.A.T. programs in science education. Advise and mentor Ph.D. and M.A.T. students. Conduct research. Acquire external funding to support science education activities. Develop doctoral courses for science education. Additional duties will vary depending on departmental placement and rank, University and academic unit education needs, and the candidate's experience and interest.
