Summary: The Assistant Education Specialist partners with campus constituents to design, facilitate, and assess initiatives for the STEM teaching community at the University of Minnesota
Duties: 1. Leadership in designing and conducting programs and services (e.g. teaching academies, seminars) for the STEM teaching community at the University of Minnesota 2. Capacity to provide leadership and direction for quality science teaching in the University's active learning classrooms and in foundational, large enrolled classes 3. Consultations for faculty, instructional staff, and teaching assistants from STEM disciplines 4. Contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning through presentations and/ore publications at the local, national, or international level 5. Working knowledge of program evaluation methods and student ratings of teaching 6. Ability to create faculty development resources in a variety of online formats 7. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications:
1. Doctorate in STEM or STEM Education 2. Teaching and professional development experience in adult/higher education setting 3. Experience in course development and assessment of student learning 4. Knowledge of and capacity to foster interdisciplinary approaches to learning 5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and campus personnel
Desired Qualifications: 1. Experience in using diverse teaching approaches 2. Past involvement in conducting research on teaching in higher education 3. Excellent oral and written communication skills 4. Ability to work with diverse populations
