Job Description
Job Summary and Purpose:
The post holder will provide teaching, learning support, outreach activities and administrative support within the Department of Physics.
Requirements
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral level qualification in physics or a closely related subject. Experience of working with students in some aspects of class/lecture room teaching, laboratory demonstrating or tutorials is essential.
Responsibilities
Teach and provide learning support in a variety of settings, such as tutorials, laboratory classes, project supervision and lectures. Assess the work of students and provide feedback. Write teaching materials and develop and administer web-based teaching and learning support facilities. Coordinate existing modules, help to develop new modules, and write and maintain module documentation. Carry out general teaching-related administrative support, including through membership of relevant committees. Develop and deliver outreach by, for example, links with schools and public understanding of science activities. Report at educational conferences and publish in the literature on innovations in teaching, learning support and student assessment. Assist in publicizing the educational work of the Department nationally and internationally, and in student recruitment. Perform other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post as required by the Head of Department.
