The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning September 2013. Wellesley is a private liberal arts college for women (2300 students) with a long tradition of providing high-quality scientific training. We offer a dynamic and challenging undergraduate physics major; many of our students go on to top graduate programs in a variety of disciplines. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or closely related field, a record of excellence in teaching, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The successful candidate is expected to have first rate research credentials and a demonstrated ability to establish an active on-campus experimental research program with significant student involvement. All fields of research will be considered.
Applicants should submit a c.v., statement of teaching interests and experience and a proposed research plan that includes a description of undergraduate participation. Please arrange to have three letters of recommendation (The online application will request names/email address so that recommenders or dossier services may submit the letters directly.) through our online application system at: https://career.wellesley.edu. If circumstances make it impossible to submit any materials through our application site, please email us at working@wellesley.edu. Early applications are strongly encouraged; we will begin the interview process this Fall. All candidates should apply before November 1, 2012. Wellesley College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and we are committed to increasing the diversity of the college community and the curriculum. Candidates who believe they can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply.
