The Department of Physics seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning September 2013. We seek an intellectually vigorous individual who is committed to excellence in both teaching and research, and who will contribute to Middlebury College’s mission to “engage students’ capacity for rigorous analysis and independent thought within a wide range of disciplines.” Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and potential to develop a strong research program involving undergraduate participation. The field of specialization is open, but the search will place particular emphasis on candidates with research and/or teaching interests in observational astronomy and astrophysics. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, or Astronomy, preferably with some post-doctoral experience.
