Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Director of STEM Learning Resources, this position coordinates all aspects of the STEM Learning Centers located in multiple campuses of Salt Lake Community College. Specific responsibilities include recruiting, training and evaluating tutors and other learning support staff; managing daily operations of the center/s, participating in site, regional and departmental program planning, improvement, budgeting, and reporting; and creating, facilitating and coordinating college success programming.

Develops a team environment, encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among Regional and Departmental staff. Manages, supervises and coordinates employees' activities by recruiting and training tutors and other learning support staff. Provides coaching and development as needed to tutoring/learning support staff. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the provided services and manages hardware/software status and repair. Establishes work priorities and work schedules as well as approves payroll for employees. Updates and uses relevant knowledge and technology to gather data, prepare reports and make presentations as needed (even at regional of national conferences.) Resolves complaints and handles issues within and across the center(s).

As a service-oriented department, the STEM Learning Resources department collaborates heavily with other SLCC departments/programs. In collaboration with other Learning Center Coordinators this position provides vision and leadership for the STEM Learning Center while also advocating for college success programming. Develops operational rules and procedures for the centers, participates in CRLA certifications through designing and teaching classes and tracking and monitoring tutor progress. Maintains records and record-keeping materials as well as tracking systems data. Creates and disseminates promotional materials. In collaboration with Associate Deans, Faculty and Advisors this position identifies students who need standard and/or specialized tutoring. Monitors quality assurance and evaluates the effectiveness of the provided services. Ensures that tutors meet required qualifications by incorporating the suggestions of subject-matter experts and collaborates with academic departments in incorporating learning support into course design. Finally, this position assists the Director in preparing the center's budget, requisitions, and any grant writing/reporting. Designs and implements facilities plans as well as maintains research-supported programming consistent with institutional learning outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Screen, interview, recommend, train, schedule, monitor and supervise MSTRC Tutors. Create schedules and maintain MSTRC records.

Provide assistance to students in courses offered by the School of SME; Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Physics, Geosciences, Engineering Technology, Engineering, Fit Tech and Mathematics. Provide assistance to faculty and students in using graphing calculators, computers and other science and Math technology.

Coordinate, schedule and supervise maintenance of computer equipment, software library, text books, solution manuals and other learning tools.

Maintain appropriate atmosphere in the MSTRC to promote group and individual student learning.
Communicate with staff about methods of tutoring, instructional and tutorial strategies, schedules, expectations, individual instructor and student needs, resources and textbooks.

Assist in the planning and implementation of special events (SME Symposium). Attend the meetings and assist with technology projects and other Math, Science & Technology Center projects and innovations. Undertake professional development in Mathematics and Science.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor 's degree in Science, Mathematics or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) - four (4) years of direct, paid, full-time work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Science, Mathematics or closely-related field from an accredited college or university.
Six (6) plus (+) years of related full-time experience.
Knowledge of grant writing and administration processes.
Familiarity with Universal Design for teaching and learning.

Position Summary:

The Office of Communications and Outreach ﴾OCO﴿ is responsible for laboratory communications, public outreach and engagement, and educational programs and products at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics ﴾LASP﴿. LASP seeks a full‐time Education and Public Outreach Specialist to deliver existing programming and to develop new programs with a variety of K–12, higher education, and general public audiences. This individual should have experience working with aerospace, academic or research institutions, and addressing their educational and outreach programming needs. Successful applicants will have demonstrated vision and leadership in education and outreach programs with experience in public engagement through multiple avenues. The specialist will need to function independently in a fast‐paced environment in which he or she represents the lab to external audiences and serves as a liaison for outreach activities with the university.

Job Duties:

• Design and implement curriculum and programs in support of LASP's education and outreach goals

• Represent LASP within CU‐Boulder, in the local community, and at a national level

• Communicate science missions and concepts through a variety of avenues, including social media platforms, websites, print and visual media

• Build relationships with new partners and maintain existing partnerships with local and national organizations and agencies to further LASP’s mission

The Department of Physical Sciences invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position in physics and astronomy. Job Summary
The position is a Faculty of Science-funded education specialist embedded in Physics & Astronomy. The person will have disciplinary expertise in Physics, Astronomy or a related discipline, and will bring expertise in pedagogy and evidence-based practices from their own background and bolstered with Skylight-coordinated professional development workshops and ongoing mentoring from Skylight leadership and peers. Organizational Status

o Disseminate scholarly work in collaboration with faculty through presenting at national and international conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals

- Community building:
o Facilitate faculty members' communication and consensus building around teaching and learning in their department
o Liaise across Science departments and with colleagues at other institutions in the same discipline
o Serve on committees related to departmental teaching and learning activities
o Organize and participate in department activities related to instructional practice such as discussion series, science education seminars, reading groups etc.

- Participate in centrally-organized work and activities, including collaborating on FoS-wide projects, actively participating in the community of their peers across departments, attending/contributing to Skylight meetings, Supper Series and the Science Education Open House each April, serving on committees as needed.

- As part of the larger teaching improvement mission, may be asked occasionally to instruct in courses that are under development/study and have been identified as in need of pedagogical advancement. Tthis would be less than one (up to three credits) course a year, at most twice (up to six credits) in a three year time span, and would be done under an Honorary Lecturer appointment.


Supervision Received
The role reports jointly to both Skylight Director and Department Head, or designates. The incumbent will work under general guidelines. Work is reviewed in term of achievement and effectiveness of the department's educational goals.

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.  BSc in one of the STEM disciplines; PhD in physics, astronomy, or related science is preferred so that the incumbent will have sufficient knowledge of the subject to better provide relevant pedagogical guidance in the courses taught.  Minimum of four years experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have knowledge of current pedagogical research and best practices in teaching. Experience working in an instructional capacity (instructor or teaching assistant) with undergraduates. Experience in curriculum development. Experience in evaluation. Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and other educational technologies would be an asset, as well as experience in computing and programming.
