1.5 VAPs at St. Olaf College, MN

The Saint Olaf College Physics Department invites applicants for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions for Academic Year 2015-2016. One position is a full time (1.0 FTE, six courses) term appointment for the academic year, starting Aug. 17, 2015. The other position is a part-time (0.5 FTE, three courses) term appointment for spring semester, starting Feb. 1, 2016.

Primary Responsibilities (each position):  Teach a combination of lecture and laboratory courses in physics with a load of 6 course-equivalents for the full-year position and 3 course equivalents for the half-year position. Both positions are likely to include a variety of teaching assignments, such as introductory physics for non-majors, first or second-year courses for majors, advanced laboratory sections, an elective course in the major and/or general education course. Experience teaching Musical Acoustics to a general audience is desirable but not required.

Qualifications:  Ph. D. in physics (or in a closely related field with a strong physics foundation) and demonstrated potential for excellent teaching in a residential liberal arts college setting. We seek motivated teachers who will thrive in an environment where close collaboration with students is the norm. Strong candidates nearing completion of the Ph. 3-Year Lectureship at Nebraska-Lincoln

Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:
