The Department of Physical Sciences at Kutztown University invites applications for a one-year, full-time temporary faculty position in Astronomy beginning August 2015. Required: A Master of Science; Preferred: Ph.D. in Astronomy or a closely related field. Candidate must have a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and research. Teaching responsibilities will include both lecture and laboratory sections consisting of twenty-four contact hours per academic year. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year teaching experience who are willing and able to integrate current pedagogy into general education lectures and laboratories and participate in the ongoing public outreach and undergraduate research programs.
The program has an on-campus observatory, state-of-the-art digital planetarium and surveying/GPS systems. In addition to supporting the Physics-Astronomy track, the program is committed to excellent introductory level teaching. The program is heavily involved in outreach efforts that utilize the planetarium and observatory and serve the community, provide programs to local schools, and integrate science into the K-12 curriculum.
