University of Arkansas at Monticello School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences Assistant Professor of Physics The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) (www.uamont.edu/jobs) is seeking applicants for a full-time, nine-month faculty position in Physics. UAM, one of eleven campuses of the University of Arkansas System, is located in southeastern Arkansas in the beautiful timberlands, rich in outdoor recreation activities, and approximately 100 miles south of Little Rock. UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected masters degree programs. Physics is part of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences which offers baccalaureate degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Natural Science. The School also offers pre-professional programs such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, pre-veterinary medicine, pre-engineering and the allied health sciences. The School provides support courses for students majoring in Forestry, Nursing, Education, and Agriculture, as well as the general education curriculum. Responsibilities: At the Assistant Professor level, duties include teaching twelve (12) hours per term, predominantly in physics. Mathematics or computer programming courses may be included if the applicant's level of expertise is acceptable in those areas. At the Instructor level, duties include teaching fifteen (15) hours per term. The expectation of outstanding teaching is expected at either level. Research is expected involving undergraduates. The position requires academic advising and the willingness to serve on University committees. The selected candidate will work closely with the area public school teachers and math and science specialists at the UAM STEM Center in the School of Education. Qualifications: It is strongly preferred that the position be filled at the Assistant Professor level, which requires a doctorate in Physics or closely related field. Applicants with a masters degree in the field with significant experience will be considered at the Instructor level. Salary: Commensurate with qualifications including excellent fringe benefits.
