The Physics Department seeks an energetic individual with a commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment, and who will engage students in undergraduate research.
The successful candidate will teach core undergraduate physics courses at all levels, participate in the operation and maintenance of the undergraduate laboratories, and direct senior research projects. The department has collaborative ties with the Arkansas Space Grant Consortium and seeks applicants whose research complements existing strengths in engineering physics, geophysics, computational physics, observational astronomy, atmospheric physics and/or astrophysics. Ph.D. in Physics from an accredited institution required. ABD with firm completion date may also be considered.
Henderson State University is a public institution offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs through the Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the Teachers College, and the Graduate School. The Department of Physics offers a BS degree in physics and has 4 to 6 graduates per year with five full-time faculty. The department operates the Reynolds Planetarium which is actively used in the undergraduate classes. The department is currently restructuring degree tracks in traditional physics, engineering physics, and physics education.
