Assistant/Associate Professor of Science Education
Marquette University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in science education at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The College of Education seeks teacher-scholars with a strong academic background in biology, chemistry, and/or physics. The successful candidate will provide leadership in undergraduate, graduate, and K-12 science education through teaching and advising in science teacher preparation programs, research and publication in K-12 science education, and collaboration with university STEM faculty and local schools on grant proposals for externally funded research. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start date is August 22, 2011.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate with major emphasis in science education; strong academic background in biology, chemistry, or physics or a related field in science (master’s or higher), successful K-12 science teaching experiences, program of research in science education, and interest in teaching elementary and secondary science methods courses in the College of Education.
Additional Desired Qualities: Potential to attract external funding, expertise in science instruction at the elementary level, experience in teaching middle and secondary science methods courses, and K-12 classroom/school-based experience in urban schools.
