STEM Education Postdoc, CSU-Chico

The California State University Chico anticipates hiring a Postdoctoral researcher in STEM Education to start in as soon as possible.

The position:

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to conduct research into:
How Learning Assistants (LAs) impact student learning
How LAs impact student retention
The postdoc will:
Help develop a shared vision among a large group of LA stakeholders
Refine the LA Supported Student Outcomes (LASSO) online data collection system
Analyze national data from the LASSO database to create multilevel models
Collect national student retention data

The project:

The SUSTAINED project has four primary strands surrounding supporting the evaluation and growth of the LA Alliance (a network of LA-using institutions). This hire would collaborate with Dr. Van Dusen to lead efforts to research the systemic impact of Learning Assistants nationally and internationally.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD/EdD in STEM Education, Research Evaluation Methods, or related field
Enthusiastic learner (because this project will involve research in many different areas, your ability to learn is more important than extensive experience in relevant areas)
Experience with quantitative evaluation methods (preferably with including multi-level modeling experience)
Knowledge of the STEM disciplines is preferred
Knowledge of the LA program is preferred
Experience working in undergraduate science education research preferred
Strong communication and writing skills and a willingness to improve them
Strong time management and organizational skills and a willingness to improve them
Ability to work with a geographically distributed team

Logistics:
Employer: CSU Chico
Location: Preferably in Chico, but will consider hiring someone who would work remotely
Supervisors: Primary supervisor Ben Van Dusen
Start date: As soon as possible, but will be flexible for the right candidate
Time commitment: Prefer full-time, but will be flexible for the right candidate
Length of appointment: Renewable to 2.5 years
