The Physics Department of Lafayette College, a highly selective
undergraduate liberal arts institution with programs in the arts,
humanities, sciences, social sciences, and engineering, invites
applications for two tenure-track assistant professor of physics
positions
starting in academic year 2017-2018.
We are seeking candidates
with a demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching, a
commitment to creative instruction in a variety of settings, and the
ability to meaningfully involve students in scholarly research in an
undergraduate college environment. The successful candidate will be able
to teach physics effectively at all levels of the undergraduate
curriculum. The Search Committee is particularly interested in
individuals who can communicate effectively with groups of
undergraduates
having a variety of interests, backgrounds and career aspirations.
Enthusiasm for teaching physics-related first-year or interdisciplinary
seminars would be a plus. Candidates must also be able to develop and
maintain a vigorous research program in an area of physics that
undergraduates find exciting and that enriches the opportunities
available for our students.
We seek candidates in all fields
of physics, but are particularly interested in candidates whose research
areas will broaden the department's overall areas of expertise.
Research proposals with the potential for interdisciplinary connections
are particularly encouraged.
A Ph.D. in physics or a
