Summary Description: 1. To learn about new developments in the science field and to practice implementing them by co-teaching under the guidance of lead teachers, probably at the Middle Division level. 2. To participate in grade level meetings and with individual teachers to understand their practice so that we optimize learning for all our children 3. To work with the faculty to generate a scope and sequence of suggested skills which are optimally integrated into instruction and which also provide a checklist to ensure that children are not missing important foundations and to contribute to monitoring each student's progress against that sequence of skills 4. To work with individual children or groups of children as needed after being identified by the teacher and principal for remedial and enrichment purposes 5. To fulfill duties, responsibilities and commitments as outlined in the faculty handbook, Working At The School at Columbia University 6. To participate fully in the demanding and rich life of the school
Minimum Qualifications: 1. B.A./B.S. degree or an equivalent degree or educational qualification from an accredited college or university 2. Evidence of interest in science learning with problem solving, hands-on experimentation, writing as reflection, and understanding at its core 3. Desire to work with children at all levels of proficiency and to learn from science lead teachers 4. Stated desire to teach in a public or independent schools 5. Interest in working with latest technologies 6. Strong communication abilities including speaking and writing
