The Wabash Physics Department and the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts (CILA) at Wabash
College invite applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics Education
Research (PER) to begin July 1, 2009. A Ph. D. in PER is desirable; having significant experience in
carrying out a physics education research project is required; interest in studying upper-level
physics courses is preferred. The successful candidate will initiate a research project investigating
student learning and pedagogical practices related to upper-level physics theory courses (e.g.,
advanced mechanics, electrodynamics, thermal physics, and quantum mechanics) and help the
Physics Department assess and improve the overall coherence of its program. In addition, there
will be the opportunity to interact directly with students by involvement in teaching one course
per semester.
