Full Professor at University of Luxemburg

The University of Luxemburg invites applications for the following vacancy in its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education
 
Professor in Educational Sciences (specialisation in school related
learning processes and environments) Full time (40 hrs/week) Open-ended contract
 
The professor will be a member of the EMACS research unit (Educational Measurement and Applied Cognitive Science). The multidisciplinary research unit is focused on the understanding and assessment of school related learning processes and learning environments.
 
Activities:
The applicant shall:
•  engage in the interdisciplinary research within the unit, notably with regards to:
- the study of learning processes and learning environments
- the analysis of contextual factors that have an influence on learning processes
- the assessment of learning outcomes
- the comparative analysis of school systems, especially in the framework of international studies (e.g. PIRLS, PISA)
•  actively seek research funds on the national and international level
 
The applicant shall actively contribute to the bachelor as well as master programmes associated with the unit and mentor PhD students.
 
Profile:
The applicant must have:
• a thorough understanding of learning processes and learning environments, as they occur in the context of schools / training programs based on a large background in educational psychology and cognitive science
• an excellent profile of research in the domain of school-related learning and teaching processes
• the ability to relate this expertise to the assessment of learning outcomes as they occur in large-scale monitoring programs and international comparative studies. He / she will thus be familiar with international school and training systems and with comparative education.
• PhD and authorisation to supervise PhD students (or equivalent qualifications) in educational or psychological sciences;
• an outstanding research record;
• a proven ability to conduct research projects;
• a proven ability to teach at master’s level.
 
As the candidate has to integrate into a multilingual research team, she/he has excellent command of at least two of the following languages: English, French and/or German (written and spoken).
