Responsibilities: Teach and contribute to the development of courses and laboratories in algebra-based and calculus-based introductory physics, and physical science. Also, teaching some upper-level engineering physics courses, depending on qualifications and departmental need. Professional development.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy (by June 30, 2010), with a specialization that is pertinent to the scope of undergraduate physics education at UW-Platteville. Preference will be given to those with degrees or experience in Physics Education Research or Astronomy. Candidates must have one year of teaching experience. Two semesters as a half-time teaching assistantship in graduate school meet this requirement. Qualifications also include good communication skills with both students and colleagues; laboratory skills consistent with contributing to the development of undergraduate physics laboratories; interest in and commitment to undergraduate education; a commitment to fostering and increasing UW-Platteville racial and gender diversity.
