Physics Lecturer
University of Wisconsin-Marathon County
The
Department of Computer Science,
Engineering, Physics and Astronomy and the University of
Wisconsin-Marathon County (UWMC) are seeking a 0.845 FTE (14.8 contact
hours)
lecturer for the 2017-18 academic year. Our institution stresses
excellence in teaching at the freshman-sophomore level.
Courses to be taught
Fall
PHY 141 College Physics I
The
study of mechanics, heat, wave motion
and sound. Recommended for students majoring in business, elementary
education, medical technology, pharmacy, pre-dentistry and pre-medical
studies.
PHY 201 University Physics I
The study of mechanics, heat, wave motion and sound. Recommended for physical science and
engineering majors.
Spring
PHY 142 College Physics II
A continuation of Physics 141. Electricity,
magnetism, light, and some modern physics.
PHY 202 University Physics II
A continuation of Physics 201. Electricity, magnetism,
light, and some modern physics.
Each course consists of three hours of lecture, one hour of discussion, and 3.4 hours of
laboratory work.
Qualifications
All
candidates are expected to have a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Physics or
a closely allied field. Candidates who hold a B.S. or B.A. in Physics or
a closely applied field, and who have completed a minimum of 18
credits of graduate-level coursework in physics, will be considered on a
case-by-case basis. Preference will be given to candidates with
previous college teaching experience in the discipline, especially
full-course responsibility, and who can show evidence of outstanding
teaching.

University of Wisconsin Colleges is the freshman-sophomore
transfer institution of the University of Wisconsin System. We provide a
liberal arts and pre-professional curriculum for the first two
years of college. UW-Marathon County is one of the 13 UW Colleges
campuses and is located in Wausau, which is a commercial, arts and
educational center for north central and northern Wisconsin. Most of our
students transfer after approximately two years to UW-Stevens
Point, UW-Madison, UW-Eau Claire or any of several other UW institutions
or other private or public colleges and universities to pursue a

Salary &
Benefits
Appointment to the Instructional Academic Staff
Lecturer series title (Associate, No-Prefix, or Senior) is
contingent upon terminal degree and teaching experience. Gross salary is
determined by the title and course load (FTE) granted. Current
full-time (1.0 FTE) salary range for Instructional Academic Staff
Lecturer series is from $39,116 to $42,867.
This appointment
may be eligible for University benefits and fringes. Eligibility is
contingent upon course load (FTE) granted and prior employment with the
State of Wisconsin. Course load is determined by enrollment driven
needs.
