Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Physics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for two full-time Visiting Assistant Professor positions to start August 15, 2017. These non-tenure track positions are for 12-months, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The primary responsibilities of these positions are to teach our introductory physics lecture and laboratories, and to assist in the training and development of Teaching Assistants.
The Department of Physics seeks dynamic and motivated individuals to join our drive to engage students and maximize learning in our classrooms. We particularly seek candidates who have a strong interest in using research-based and active learning approaches, are willing to evaluate new models of instruction and embrace online learning, and are able to contribute to the Physics Education Research activities of the department. Such activities include development of assessments, collection and analysis of data on student learning, and presentation of results within the department and at conferences. Candidates must have a Doctorate in Physics or a closely related field, or a Doctorate in Science Education with a Master’s degree in Physics. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred. Recent experimental Physics PhD's who are strongly interested in and knowledgeable of research-based education are also encouraged to apply.
