The University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska seeks a bipartite Term Assistant Professor of Physics for a one-year appointment from August, 2010 - May, 2011. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and service.
This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track position, competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. It includes an excellent package of medical and financial benefits. Partial relocation costs may be paid. The position is covered by a collective bargaining unit agreement.
This position will support undergraduate degree programs in Environmental Science and Biology. Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline preferred. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching introductory physics courses and labs, upper division courses, and service as appropriate. Prior undergraduate teaching experience required.
Duties:
1. Teach 9-12 credit hours per semester.
2. Teach introductory physics sequence, including labs.
3. Teach other physical science related courses in specialty area that supports degree programs in environmental science or biology.
4. Perform appropriate university and public service.
