Studentship at University of Glasgow

Applications are invited for a four-year interdisciplinary PhD Studentship with the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Biomedical and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow

Title of Project: Incorporating public responses to health communication into epidemiological models

The aim of this project is to develop a theoretical framework that explains how and why individuals learn about and change their behaviour in response to public health communication and other sources of information about infectious diseases such as
swine flu. The project is intended to support the evolution of existing models used to predict disease spread to take individual and social processes into account.

The interdisciplinary nature of the project means that applicants may have a background in a range of areas, including science education, science communication, health psychology, epidemiology, etc. The generous four-year studentship covers home/EU or international fees, a stipend at recommended rates and a travel allowance.

Please direct initial enquiries to educationks@gla.ac.uk

Deadline for application is 17 March 2010.
