VAP at Amherst College

Amherst College's Department of Physics invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The one-year appointment will start July 1, 2010. A Ph.D. in physics is required. The department is looking for a person with broad intellectual interests who is committed to teaching and working with undergraduates at a liberal arts college. The faculty in physics is active in research in laser and atomic physics, condensed-matter physics, and high-energy physics. There is a broader research community in the area because of Amherst College's close proximity to the University of Massachusetts, as well as Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Hampshire Colleges.
