TT at Texas Tech Univ.

The Department of Physics at Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position dedicated primarily to undergraduate astronomy education. The appointment is expected to begin with the Fall semester of 2011. Duties will include teaching astronomy courses at the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to serve as Director of the Department’s Skyview Observatory and to help develop an astronomy minor and concentration within the Physics major. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Astronomy or Physics. Experience teaching introductory courses and in curriculum development is highly desirable. The selected candidate is also invited to participate in research, particularly activities that can involve undergraduates, and in departmental outreach.
