The Department of Middle-Secondary Education and Instructional Technology in the College of Education at Georgia State University is seeking a permanent full-time assistant/associate professor (tenure track) in middle level education.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include conducting research, seeking external funding to support research as appropriate to the area of inquiry, teaching courses in the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs in middle level education, and providing service to the middle level education community. Additional responsibilities include mentoring doctoral students; advising undergraduate and graduate students; serving on departmental, college, and university committees; and participating in professional organizations and conferences.

Qualifications: Qualifications include an earned doctorate in middle level education or related area (particularly language arts, reading, mathematics and/or science education); evidence of scholarly work in middle level education; a strong background in current trends and issues in middle level education; expertise in standards-based middle level instruction and assessment; experience and commitment in working with diverse students in urban settings and professional development schools; and strength as a researcher as well as a scholar/teacher. Applicants for the associate professor position should have a robust research agenda, national reputation, and strong record of external funding for research. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong methodological background and a well-defined research program that is supported by funding from a source that uses a rigorous peer review process.
