The Department of Teacher Education, Brigham Young University, seeks applications to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in elementary science education to begin August 2013.

Candidates for this position must have an earned doctorate from an accredited university in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, teaching and learning, or a related field, with specialization in science education. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teacher education, evidence of a well-defined research agenda, professional publications and presentations (commensurate with experience), and a strong interest in both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Preference is given to qualified  candidates with teaching experience, particularly experience in K-12 classrooms. Individuals at all ranks will be considered.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of hired faculty include teaching; scholarship, research, and publication; and service to campus, university, and the profession.

Teaching
The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in elementary science education and graduate courses in STEM education, as well as a variety of graduate courses in teacher education, and have a thorough and current understanding of the literature, trends, and issues in science education and teacher education.

Scholarship
The faculty member must have an active research agenda in science education or related area and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed research outlets, demonstrating consistent productivity of high quality scholarship over his/her entire career.

Citizenship/Service
The faculty member will be expected to be actively involved in and provide service to the campus, university, and discipline on state, regional, national, and international levels; work collaboratively with colleagues, other university faculty members, and public school partners; and support the university mission and policies.
