FT Instrumentation Instructor, Lee College TX

Established in 1934, Lee College is a comprehensive community college offering university transfer programs, career and technical education, corporate and continuing education, and academic development.
Lee College is a vibrant, continuously evolving, mid-sized institution serving an industrial community. The college is located in Baytown, Texas, approximately 30 miles east of Houston. The third largest city in Houston metropolitan area, Baytown has a diverse population of more than 60,000. Teach freshman and sophomore level courses in Instrumentation, advise students, and teach workforce classes as needed.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Be on campus to serve students as a first priority.
  • Keep classrooms, labs, and equipment presentable, functional, and in order.
  • Conduct occasional tours for guests.
  • Adhere to the expectations, guidelines, and other relevant considerations found in the faculty handbook.
  • Various other tasks and duties as assigned by the Division Chair.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include:
  • Recruiting potential students and career information promotion at high schools and other opportunities offered, sometimes outside normal work hours.
  • Campus activities such as career fairs, job fairs, committee assignments, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate of Applied Science degree required.
  • Must have 3 years (min.) hands-on technician experience troubleshooting and repairing Instrumentation Systems in production plant.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the physics of Instrumentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic, entry level instrumentation job skills.
  • Must have hands-on experience with current control strategies and technologies such as PLC’s and DCS’s.
  • Demonstrate understanding of basics of various communication bus technologies (such as Fieldbus).
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of electricity, networking, and process technology.
  • Ability to configure and implement discrete controllers.
  • Ability to calibrate pneumatic, electronic, and digital instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • International Society of Automation (ISA) membership desired.
  • NCCER/ISA/IBEW and other certifications a plus.
  • Prefer minimum of ten (10) years working experience (will consider less based upon support skills, such as acquired in practicing design).
  • Electrical experience a plus.
