Assistant professor – Mathematics and Natural Sciences
Florida’s newest state university is looking for exceptional candidates to serve as Assistant Professor (9003), starting August of 2014 in the following disciplines

Florida Polytechnic University was created by the 2012 Florida legislature to be the state’s STEM-focused four-year public university. With a range of innovative undergraduate and master’s programs planned, both online and classroom-based, the university seeks to recruit inaugural classes of freshmen, transfer and graduate students for fall 2014 and to grow quickly to become a major higher education presence within the state and beyond. The cornerstone of the new campus is an academic center designed by internationally-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Polk County, home to Florida Polytechnic, has a population in excess of 600,000 and is within an hour’s drive of five million residents in the Orlando and Tampa metro areas.
SUMMARY OF POSITION ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will fulfill teaching responsibilities with strong commitment to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning, demonstrate a high level of professionalism and commitment to students, demonstrative career objectives consistent with the University’s missions, assist in the development and review of the curriculum, serve on academic committees, participate in various departmental and college activities, and maintain regular office hours. The candidate will: (a) apply current teaching methods and/or technology to instructions; (b) advise undergraduate and graduate students; (c) contribute to General Educations Program goals and the University’s mission; (d) represent and serve on college and university level committees; (e) participate in professional development activities; (f) work collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration by assisting with program evaluation and accreditation related tasks; and (g) maintain an excellent record of scholarship.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The successful candidate will possess:
Knowledge and skills relevant to face-to-face and online course development and delivery.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. In teaching discipline from an accredited institution.
EXPECTED STARTING SALARY: The salary will commensurate with years of experience.
