Position: SCIENCE CLINICAL FACULTY/PROFESSIONAL LICENSED POSITION, Continuing non-tenure-track.
Responsibilities: Work with teachers and principals in Miami University Partner schools and teach science education courses related to background and experience. This includes teaching a physical science course and its laboratory for early childhood majors and non-majors from other colleges in the university as well as science methods courses; supervising of field-based program experiences; advising undergraduate students; providing service to the university, schools and the profession.
Required Qualifications: Earned Masters, A.B.D. or Doctorate in Science education. A minimum of 3 years of effective teaching experience and background in working within the science education community is required. Knowledge of multicultural education or background in working with diverse student populations in preK-12 environments.
Desired Qualifications: Earned Doctorate in Science education: (a) knowledge of science instruction for students in preK-16, (b) infusion of inquiry, science and engineering practices within science instruction, (c) recognition of misconceptions present in science instruction, (d) inclusionary experience with preK-12 and experience teaching/focus in culturally, linguistically diverse, urban, or international settings, (e) participation and membership in related state and national professional organizations, (f) experience with school-university partnerships, (g) the ability to contribute to existing strengths and initiatives, such as preparing teachers to work with English Language Learners, students with dyslexia [and other special learning needs, i.e., autism], as it relates to science education (h) ability to integrate technology in the science classroom, (i) experience with online teaching and international experience focus.
