Schenectady County Community College's Department of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Health invites applications for a full-time faculty Instructor position to teach physics and related courses. The individual should be able to provide lecture and laboratory instruction in Physical Science, Physics, College Physics, and Thermodynamics & Statistical Mechanics. Other responsibilities include academic advisement, assessment, course development, and service on college committees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Teaching a full-time course load in physics, college physics, and physical science
· Providing academic advisement to students
· Holding office hours for students
· Preparing and administering assessment instruments
· Developing and revising courses to maintain a core of physics courses that support current programs and enable strong transfer opportunities
· Supporting development of potential new program offerings in pre-engineering and environmental science and technology
· Participating in division activities, to include but not limited to program review and assessment
· Serving on College committees
· Performing other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
A Master of Science in a physics-based discipline and the ability to teach physical science (non-majors), physics, and calculus-based physics lectures and laboratories.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. in a physics-based discipline, experience teaching at the community college level, and experience working with a diverse student population.
