The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Dickinson College invites
applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement position beginning
July 2014. Dickinson is a highly selective four-year liberal arts
college with an active and innovative science program. The Department is
housed in a state-of-the-art building, equipped with smart classrooms,
research labs, a planetarium, and observatory.
The physics

the internationally-known Workshop Physics, an activity-based
introductory course developed here at Dickinson. The Department
graduates approximately ten majors per year, one-third of whom are
women.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or astronomy and
will be expected to teach primarily introductory courses for
non-majors, with the possibility of also teaching an upper-level physics
course. Ideally, applicants will be able to engage undergraduate
majors in research.
Applicants must create a profile at
https://jobs.dickinson.edu. Please upload your cover letter, a CV and a
statement of your teaching and research interests. Once you have
completed the online application process and received your confirmation
number, your reference letter writers will receive an e-mail to submit
their letters.
We will begin reviewing applications by
February 7, 2014 but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
