Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent
liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of
Cleveland, invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track assistant
professor of physics, reporting to the dean of the School of Natural
Sciences and Mathematics.
The assistant professor of physics will
teach a range of undergraduate physics and related classes,
including a non-majors physical science course and, potentially,
introductory mathematics courses, as needed. This position requires
expertise in teaching algebra-based general physics and participation in
department-level planning and development activities. An interest
in developing a calculus-based general physics sequence is preferred. In
addition to teaching, full-time faculty are responsible for
academic advising, College service and serving on faculty and College
committees. Position available Fall 2014.
Candidates should
demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts
college environment. To be considered for the assistant professor
position, the candidate should hold a Ph.D. in the field. Teaching
experience in a liberal arts setting and strong evidence of scholarly
production is preferred.
