The department of chemistry & physics seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to teach physics curriculum- courses and laboratories beginning in September 2016. Teaching assignments include introductory and more specialized courses in the area of the candidate's expertise and other departmental instructional needs. As a member of a cooperative and collegial campus community, the successful candidate will also serve on university-wide committees and is expected to be an active scholar.
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching responsibilities, advising, scholarship and contributions to the development of the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or ABD with significant progress in physics
- Evidence of an ability to effectively teach college level physics courses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching at the college level
- Experience with or desire to conduct undergraduate research at a primarily undergraduate institution
- Experience in and a commitment to teaching in a multicultural, multiracial environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Experience with instructional technology and active learning techniques
