TT at Wright State

The Department of Teacher Education (TED) in the College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Science Education with appointment beginning August 1, 2016. The TED in CEHS is known for its extensive school partnerships, innovative programs, and its commitment to the principles of the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER). The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs that lead to initial teacher preparation in selected teaching fields and selected age levels as well as advanced professional programs for current teachers and other educators seeking advanced study and/or additional teaching credentials. Responsibilities include excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring students in the TED programs; engaging in collaborative service to the university, college and department; and developing a record of published scholarship and funded research. Additional responsibilities include building and supporting university school partnership initiatives, supervising field experiences and managing assessment data. A minority appointment with an appropriate College of Science and Mathematics (COSM) science department may be a possibility if qualified and appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (Ed. D. or Ph. D.) in Science Education, or a closely related field completed by the position's start date.
Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and scholarship at collegiate level.
Demonstrated record of experience and excellence in teaching in PK-12 schools (minimum of three years or equivalency)
Knowledge of effective teaching practices, methods, and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial manner with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated commitment to facilitate successful student learning experiences and achievement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse students
College teaching experience or experience coaching in-service teachers
Online teaching experience
Middle school, junior high or high school teaching experience
Experience with instructional technology
