Research fellowship at Girton College, University of Cambridge

Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship to be held in any science subject, for the academic year 2011/12 and tenable for three years. The College normally awards a Science Fellowship each year. This is open to graduates of any university with no age limit, but is intended to support those at an early stage in their academic careers, and will normally be awarded to a candidate who has recently completed a Ph.D. or is close to completion. The competition involves assessment of candidates' submitted work and interview.

Those interested should note that the standard needed to progress to the later stages of the competition is extremely high. Overseas candidates should also note that the College cannot be responsible for payment of air fares should they be short-listed for interview.

The Emoluments of a Fellowship are reviewed annually (in August). The scale from 1 August 2010 will rise by two annual increments from £18,117 to £20,327 a year for a Research Fellow who has not proceeded to the PhD degree, and £19,185 to £21,565 a year for a post-PhD. Fellow. Research expenses up to a total of £2,500 over the three years of the Fellowship may be paid.

The closing date for applications is noon on Tuesday 11 January 2011. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit work late January, and final interviews will take place on Tuesday 15 March 2011. Further particulars and application forms are available from the Personnel office, Girton College, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge, CB3 0JG, UK, downloaded from http://www.girton.cam.ac.uk/vacancies/research/ or requested via email to personnel@girton.cam.ac.uk.
